& Tempered glass, which
are used in two major products for GMG

What
do we mean by Laminated , Tempered ?
Laminated
Glass :
Laminated glass consists of two or more panes
of float glass bonded together by one or several sheets of polyvinyl
butyral (PVB) interlayer which is extremely tough and resilient.
Monsanto is the world's foremost producer of PVB under the trader
name of SAFLEX ®. The adhesion of the PVB interlayer to the
glass is optimized by a production process based on high heat and
pressure. The process achieves perfect homogeneity of the glass
sandwich and maintains the transparency of standard monolithic float
glass. In addition to transparency, laminated glass maintains all
other characteristics of float glass such as durability and scratch
resistance. However, it adds impact resistance, better sound insulation
and improved control of solar energy. With all these additional
qualities, laminated glass has become a unique product for all types
of safety and security glazing applications.
Tempered
Glass :
Tempered glass is fabricated by subjecting
annealed glass to a special heat treating process. The process starts
by using heat of approximately 1150F, then rapidly cools it by blowing
air informally onto both surfaces simultaneously. The cooling process
looks the surfaces of the glass in a state of high compression and
the central core in compensating tension.
Tempered
glass when broken breaks into a multitude of small fragment of more
or cubical shapes, which is usually called "Dice". To
call it safety glass, fragments should meet the requirements of
CPSC 16 CFR 1201 or ANSI Z97.1
